Even if you don't want to do the asking, you can still take control of your prom date situation. Your crush might be waiting for a sign from you before he starts plannign that promposal. Here are some (not obvious) ways to give him the hint.
1. Keep It Super Casual! Talk about how excited for prom you are and all the activities that come with it. Showing him your enthusiasm will make him more likely to see you as a fun date.
2. Don't Play Hard To Get. Guys aren't always too good at putting all the pieces of the puzzle together so let him know you're available for prom. Don't play hard to get or tell him how you have a million guys waiting in line for you, otherwise he'll never get up the confidence to ask!
3. Plant The Idea In His Head! Say things like "We'd be the best dancers at the prom" or "We'd be able to show everyone what a good time looks like". By planting these ideas subtly you'll make him think it was all his idea!
4. Use Your Friends! Try asking a few of your girl friends that are closer with him to drop some hints as well. He will get his confidence up because he will not only think that going to prom together would be a good idea but he'll know your friends think so too.
5. Hang Out! If you're wanting to go to prom with a crush who you don't know that well ask him to hang out with you and your friends sometime. Hanging out outside of school provides a better opportunity to get to know each other better and will make him feel more comfortable asking you.
